FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to Your Most Common Questions

1. Consultations and professional background

what are dr adriana rodríguez’s qualifications and professional background?

I have specialist training in two fields, allowing me to assess the face from both a functional and an aesthetic perspective: I am an ENT specialist and a specialist in facial plastic surgery. I am also an active member of the Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (SEORL-CCC), and my application to join the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) is in progress. I continue to pursue professional training internationally.

where does dr adriana rodríguez see patients and perform surgery in málaga?

I see patients and perform facial surgical procedures at Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga. Preoperative assessment, surgery and follow-up care are coordinated as part of the same care pathway. When a procedure requires a hospital setting, it is carried out there with the facilities and clinical professionals appropriate to the procedure. During your consultation, we also explain how preoperative preparation, admission where necessary and subsequent follow-up appointments are arranged.

2. Facial surgery, planning and recovery

is recovery from nose, ear or lip surgery painful?

These procedures are sometimes thought to be very painful, but the nature and intensity of discomfort depend on the operation and the individual patient. By using preservation techniques and less traumatic approaches, we aim to minimise tissue trauma.

After rhinoplasty, patients often experience congestion, pressure or a blocked-nose sensation rather than severe pain. When ultrasound-assisted techniques are used to reshape the nasal bones, their more selective action on bone may help reduce trauma to the surrounding soft tissues, and therefore swelling and bruising in the first few days.

After otoplasty or earlobe repair, discomfort is generally mild to moderate and can usually be managed with the prescribed pain relief.

At your consultation, we explain what to expect at each stage of recovery and which symptoms mean you should contact the medical team.

when is the surgery date booked?

Your surgery is booked once the medical assessment has been completed and the surgical plan agreed. Before the booking is confirmed, we explain the reasons for recommending the procedure, the proposed approach, the preparation and follow-up required and, for patients travelling from outside Málaga, the recommended length of stay and any in-person assessments needed before surgery.

3. Patients travelling to Málaga

I do not live in málaga. can I have an initial consultation online?

Yes. An initial video consultation may be arranged for patients living outside Málaga.

This allows us to discuss the aspect you would like assessed, review the information and photographs available, and provide initial guidance on the possible procedure, the visits required and a potential stay in Málaga.

Any preliminary plan made remotely must subsequently be confirmed through an in-person assessment. A physical examination can reveal details that are not always apparent in photographs or on a video call, such as skin thickness and quality, cartilage strength, tissue mobility or certain functional considerations. These findings may mean that the proposed surgical plan needs to be adjusted.

Where diagnostic tests or other in-person assessments are required, these are arranged before the surgical indication and plan are definitively confirmed.

if I travel from another city or country, can you help organise my stay in málaga?

If you are travelling from elsewhere in Spain or abroad, we can help coordinate practical aspects of your stay in Málaga, including accommodation, local transfers and the follow-up appointments needed while you remain in the city. I fully understand that having surgery away from home calls for careful logistical planning. Thanks to the convenient location of Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga, close to Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport and the coast, we can recommend suitable accommodation for your recovery, advise on local transfer options and arrange close follow-up care and wound checks while you need to remain in the area.

For patients who would benefit from more comprehensive travel and follow-up planning, please see our Concierge service.

how long will I need to stay in málaga after facial surgery?

The length of time you need to stay in Málaga depends on the procedure and your individual recovery. During the planning stage, we will advise how many days you should remain in the city for initial checks and postoperative care before travelling home. For patients coming from elsewhere in Spain or abroad, this period is planned individually as part of the surgical and follow-up care pathway.
