Rhinoplasty in Málaga
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure within the field of Facial Plastic Surgery that we offer in Málaga. This procedure focuses on enhancing both the shape and function of the nose, allowing it to harmonise with the rest of the face and, in some cases, correcting breathing difficulties.
What does a nose job consist of?
If you are interested in undergoing a rhinoplasty in Malaga, you should know that it is a highly personalized procedure that adapts to the unique needs of each patient.
Our team performs this plastic surgery to enhance the appearance of the nose, whether by modifying the shape of the bridge, the nasal tip, altering the size of the nose (projection or de-projection), or adjusting the angle between the nose and the upper lip (rotation or de-rotation).
What is the rhinoplasty procedure like?
With the exception of a few cases, the approach is open, which provides maximum exposure of the nasal skeleton. This superior visualization offers the surgeon a fairly broad and precise diagnostic and technical capability.
In addition to general anaesthesia, local anaesthesia is also used for haemostasis and soft tissue dissection, with irregularities and deformities of the external contour being marked beforehand.
The incisions used in this approach are mostly endonasal, except for the transcolumellar skin incision which is the only one that the patient will be able to see postoperatively. Without any scarring problem or previous pathology, its scarring is imperceptible. In this surgery the osteocartilaginous structure is handled, so the patient will have a nasal splint for approximately 15 days. From this point on, the patient will be able to lead a relatively normal life, which will depend on the daily activity of the patient and the way he/she evolves, especially the edema, both endonasal and external.
Recovery and postoperative period
In the immediate postoperative period and in the following days, cold therapy will be used in addition to medication to control haematomas and oedema, thus significantly reducing recovery time. It is not a painful surgery. Postoperative medication and recommendations are mainly aimed at reducing inflammation both endonasally and externally. The greatest discomfort may be the fluctuating sensation of nasal blockage, which diminishes as the days go by.

Revision rhinoplasty
Primary rhinoplasty refers to the procedure performed on a patient's nose for the first time. However, there is also revision rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty, for patients who have already undergone one or more previous aesthetic procedures.
While rhinoplasty is a surgery more challenging because it requires accurate results, where its measures and actions are measured in millimeters, in a revision rhinoplasty everything is somewhat more complex for the healing process prior and the sometimes lack of tissue for reconstruction. In these cases, it is used grafts from other areas to compensate for this, as are the ear cartilage or rib cartilage.
Ethnic Rhinoplasty
Another concept to take into account is the great importance of ethnic rhinoplasty in which it is demonstrated that beauty cannot be based on fixed ideal standards.
Currently, facial surgeons are exposed to different races and mixtures of them that make even more necessary a previous study of the facial dimensions and knowledge of racial characteristics. Thus we will see not only aesthetic differences but also structural differences in terms of bone length, cartilage thickness and skin thickness, among others, which makes us decide in each case for one surgical technique or another. For this reason it is so important the deep knowledge, training and experience of the surgeon in all these aspects to be taken into account, to perform a successful surgical approach and ultimately successful, which provides a totally harmonious results to your face, the main key to beauty.
